5.75 (average) For some reason I didn't like Teito, he was kinda whiny and I dislike whiny main characters. Mikhail I liked when he took over Teito's body, his eyes looked cool. Frau was okay. I liked his scythe. Hakuren was a really big snob in the begininng, but it was nice to see him and Teito ended up getting along and becoming friends. Ayanami was alright as a villian, though his motives were very typical. Though I would have liked to know more about his past. The pacing for the show was a bit slow. The character design was okay. Hyuuga was okay, and a pretty loyal subordinate. I liked the opening it was nice but I didn't like the ending.

The anime is disappointing and that's just off of the first episode...

8.00 (good) Really liking the OST as well as the OP & ED songs. Though the CGI is going to take a little bit to adjust to, I'm really looking forward to seeing how the story unfolds because the plot is interesting and pretty dark. Enjoyed S2, while Satou was a bit of an extremist, he was an enjoyable villain~

7.25 (above average) A few people have certain character flaws I don't like; mainly Tatsumi, because I feel like his attitude holds the series back a bit at times and they OP Esdese too often but that aside this manga is pretty good. And this manga's definitely not afraid to kill off characters on both sides.

I'm happy this is got an anime, I just wished it didn't go the anime original ending route... The manga gave necessary added depth to the ending to make it feel smoother. I feel kinda bad for Kurome. Leone's death was the saddest out of the entirety of Night Raid. Glad the fat fuck who ran the Empire died & that he went out in a slow but especially brutal fashion.

10.00 (excellent) Pretty good so far. Inaho and Slaine together is a bad-ass team, combat-wise only though. Love the soundtrack so far ^^ But Slaine is way too emotional & quick to jump to conclusions. Keep in mind that both times in his encounters with Inaho, he is always the first one to pull out his gun. He is indeed a walking contradiction. The second season, while I kinda wanted Slaine to die, I think in a more twisted kinda way he got what he deserved.

3.50 (below average) I liked the OPs. Decent for the first half, but the drama of things is overdone. And they progressed so SLOW, like they spent more time actually regressing as a team playing rugby more often than them actually making headway to get any better. :/ Damn this show has potential to be moderately entertaining in the beginning but tanked HARD afterward.

9.75 (excellent) This show was very good and a bit different from most shows. Even though it was short anime series, it had such an impact from both music and story for me and more anime should be like this in my opinion. A lot of the music in the series was pretty nice to listen to. I loved 'Ichiban no Takaramono' the original LiSA/Yui version played with Iwasawa. It's sounds sad but it is awesome! The ending was sad, watching everyone graduate, I actually cried. My absolute favorite character was Iwasawa Masami! I grew attached to her as soon as she told her story. It was such a sad thing for me to know that she has to disappear so early in the show. TK was hilarious to me whenever he was around so I wish he got more lines in the show. It also would been nice to see the backstories of all the other characters. Seeing Yuzuru's backstory was sad, especially what happened to his sister Hatsune. Yuri's story was also pretty messed up. I wished Shiina got shown more, I liked her.

8.75 (very good) I like the character designs. The OP and ED are nice. I like the story of a girl's spirit wanting to find peace through bringing her friends together once they drifted apart because of her death. And how her death affected each of those 5 friends left behind and the feelings each of them had been hiding as a result. The ending was sad.

8.00 (good) I was definitely intrigued by this anime, I liked the characters designs. Given that P.A. Works is handling the animation so you know it’s going to look great, and you won’t be disappointed. Character designs and backgrounds are gorgeous, animation is fluid and natural, and the overall look of the series is hauntingly beautiful. That’s not an accidental choice of words here, as PA combines their usual mastery of color with some interesting muted schemes and use of shadows to help create the pervasive tone of dread that pervades the entire episode. I think the doll designs are weird to say the least. The series seems like it will be a good psychological thiller, and if done right I'll definitely enjoy it. The first episode was pretty good in setting up the plot. It also showed that a few of the other kids seen so far seem to be sick or have some other kind of misfortune going on. I’m not ready to guess what the true situation here is yet, but I’m on pins and needles to find out. Kouichi can clearly see Mei, who seems very obviously to be dead – but can no one else see her, or are they merely pretending not to? The timing of events is interesting – I’d thought Kouichi’s Mom or Dad might have been involved in the 1985 incident with Mei, but the timing really doesn’t fit. I assume the Grandparents are her parents, as she was obviously born and raised in Yomiyama, and the father is absent, travelling in India as part of his job as a college professor. We know that Kouichi’s Mom has died in circumstances dire enough to make her father tremble and cry when he talks about “that” happening to her – but no details yet. It seems as if things took a supernatural turn when another student referred to Mei being “still here” – and hereafter the school acted as if she weren’t dead, leaving her desk untouched and even making a place for her at graduation. I was somewhat surprised that Reiko was the extra and that Kouichi killed their teacher.

10.00 (excellent) I saw commercials for this show as the previous season of anime was wrapping up. I even read a bit of the manga, just the first few chapters before I quit because I didn't really want to spoil too much of the anime. The supermarket job and the subplot of Yui were anime only. In the manga, he simply gets confronted by the bullies as he walks towards the job. I feel the addition of the market and Yui did a lot for Rin as a character, fleshing him out with the struggles of his ineptitude to do things (except being excellent at cooking), and emphasizing how much of an innate good will he possesses. I think the pacing was a bit slow. The series is doing very well in terms of ratings and BD/DVD sales, and the manga is selling well in the US. I am also reading the manga as new chapters come out so I do know that the manga is nowhere near far enough along to support a second season of the anime. So which direction does A-1 choose – an anime-original ending, or perhaps a total “jump break” like Deadman Wonderland with the intent of waiting at least two years and hoping the audience is still there? I'm hoping this show will NOT do an original ending and wait awhile for the manga to get further ahead and then continue, picking up where they left over with a second season. Honestly speaking, I am hoping that the studio will take the FMA route and create an AnE Brotherhood version when the manga ends. So I'm getting the feeling that what's going on now is just filler. Because they don’t seem to be doing any of the character development that happened in the manga. Thus I think they are just creating a filler arc that will end without much actually having changed and them able to continue the story afterwards. I think they are not doing an anime original ending with how things look right now. They are only following the somewhat same character development as the manga, but adding some filler plot that they can end this season. They can then start a new season by following the original plot, but leaving out the character development that they have already done. The omakes are really funny too^^

6.00 (average) Evol has nice character desings, I liked what I saw, though the noise they make when actually getting in the mech is still as annoying as ever. I like Evol more than Sousei for some reason. Yunoha and Jin would've been cute as a couple. Personally for some reason I like the idea of Kagura and Mikono being together by the end of the series, though I always knew it'd be Amata and Mikono. I definitely like Kagura more than Amata though. Mikage was so obssessive...

Last Updated: May 22, 2013

9.00 (very good) Decided to give this a shot since you don't see a lot of anime made about what it takes to become a mangaka. That in and of itself appealed to me because it's interesting, different and also because I do a lot of reading (both actually novels and many different manga online) and I write a story with one of my best friends just for fun whenever we have time and also to give us something constructive to do that we can put our minds to. So to see an anime about something that I myself am very invested and interested in I just had to watch. I'm also pleased to see that; unlike most, this has 3 whole seasons. I enjoy regular one-cour shows, but to see an anime with this kind of premise and with a substantial amount of episodes added on to my willingness to try it out. Though it's an anime, it feels realistic, in that our main characters Mashiro and Takagi don't succeed right off the bat. There's also bits of comedy here which I enjoy as well. The character designs I thought I would find weird but now that I'm actually watching the series I think it fits very well. All in all I never would've though I'd find an anime about what it takes to try and become a successful mangaka so engaging but then again considering what I & my best friend do for fun whenever we have time, this series is right up my alley ^^

10.00 (excellent) Really nice character design and art style overall. Guts is a complete badass, but his backstory/entire life is tragedy one after another. Even though I feel bad for the stuff that Casca's been through (cuz it got really bad after Griffith became a God Hand), I can't find myself able to like her character; especially while she was a part of the Band of Hawks. I sympathize with her but don't like her. Griffith is an asshole but at the very least he was upfront about what his goals were, that he would do ANYTHING to see them accomplished & stuck to that throughout the series so far.

9.00 (very good) This was my first anime (not sure why I didn't add this sooner). My friend in school liked it & when I asked her about it, she told me about it & asked if I'd ever seen it. I told her no but I was interested enough to wanna take a look, so she lent me a DVD of the first movie to see if I'd like it. And for whatever reason I pretty much became a fan right away. I've seen all of the original series & all of the movies. Then along came Gundam & Dragon Ball Z to complete my starting anime trilogy. After those three series, the gates were opened to the great anime & manga fan that I still am to this day!^^

Now I'm checking out Sailor Moon Crystal, super pumped to dive into this not only for nostalgia factor, but also to see how this series goes. Because as I've been told, it's faithful to the manga (as compared to the original Sailor Moon anime series) & since I've never read any of it I'm really interested & excited to see what I get. ^^

Anime gets also a 7.50. Anime didn't do itself any favors right out the gate, because two crucial character developing scenes in the first episode were cut out.

But it did get better after the Kagetane arc. But I will say that the end of episode 13 with Kisara was interesting. I definitely would've liked it if the anime was about Kisara getting her revenge instead.

Roberta's Blood Trail is a good OVA series as well. It was seeing Roberta's darker side & seeing Rock kinda mature as a character there as well.

Black Rock Shooter

Last Updated: Sep 26, 2012

9.00 (very good) The OVA was pretty good. The fights were pretty nice. The animations and designs were pretty good too. Though I think it would've been nice if the characters spoke. I also watched the 2012 anime series. I enjoyed the series more than the single OVA, because everything was fleshed out a bit more, I wish it wasn't such a short series though. The characters designs looked pretty cool. And I think they balanced the school aspect of the characters and counterparts fighting quite well. The ending was pretty good. And for such a short show, I'm still amazed at how good it turned out to be. Amongst all the original offerings that also finished this season, I can honestly say that BRS probably had one of the more satisfying endings. In terms of the characters, this television adaptation gave the characters some much-needed backbone. Unlike the OVA, which only had time to focus on Yomi/Dead Master, I really enjoyed getting to see the other characters like Strength and Black Gold Saw get some well-deserved screen time. Overall, I think Black Rock Shooter is a show that everyone should watch at least once. With its use of symbolism and the small messages that are scattered throughout the series, there’s always something for you to keep your eye out for. Combined with a strong seiyuu cast that were able to flesh out the characters through emotion to the amazing music that only amplified the emotional in every single scene, Black Rock Shooter turned into one of the best shows of the season. So if you haven’t watched Black Rock Shooter yet, I strongly suggest you give it a shot!

3.00 (poor) Aruka looked okay and the action was alright in some places. Though she does seem a bit robotic and dull as far as her behavior/attitude. The voice acting for one of the villain characters as well sounded really lifeless. So that was a definite issue for this series that could've been decent. Overall disappointing.
